CRIME FREE PROGRAM
IPSA has been the security partner for the hotel industry for several years.
Theft, fraud or attempted fraud in a wide range of forms, vandalism, sabotage and assault are part of the variety of crimes that occur in the hotel industry.
By providing hotel security and assistance to the police in criminal investigations, IPSA has been able to gather valuable experience in crime prevention.
The estimated number of unreported cases in hotel crime is high, and even if many of these offenses are not worth mentioning, the victims are still victims. Guests are the silent appraisers of a hotel, and IPSA has developed the CRIME FREE PROGRAM (CFP) for hotels specifically for that reason.
Internationally, hotels are rated and designated with 'stars'. However, general security is not one of the criteria evaluated when handing out these stars. What does IPSA offer to members of the CFP?
- Review of the security installations (e.g. emergency exits, fire extinguishers, security techniques, first-aid techniques, etc.).
- Review of compliance with legal fire protection provisions and guidelines.
- Review of the equipment used in crisis situations (e.g. flashlights, first-aid kits, smoke inhalation masks, reflective vests, etc.).
- Evaluation and advanced training of the crisis team.
- Written report on gaps or short-comings in security.
- General report evaluating hotel security.
Furthermore, we strive to educate the hotel employees in the following areas:
- Hotel security and crime prevention
- Crisis management in the event of a disaster
- Fire protection and fire fighting
- Hot to handle suspicious activity
- What to do in the event of a bomb threat
- Incidents and reporting (special in the IERS introduction)
- Housekeeping - safety at work
Towards the end of the calendar year, the member hotel with the best evaluation will be honoured with the CRIME FREE HOTEL of the YEAR AWARD.
